au Québec. La réputation du Festival réside d'une solide
organisation, d'un site extraordinaire mais aussi des artistes qui offrent
à chaque année des spectacles et des ateliers de grande qualité.
Le volume 2 du Festival a été tiré des éditions
de 1997 et de 1998. On peut y entendre les Normand Miron, André Marchand,
Yvon Mimeault, Lisa Ornstein, Susie Bourke David Surette, Pete et Karen
Sutherland, Swamparella, John Roberts, Lisa Preston, Arc en Son, Sarah Blair,
Paul Groff, Perdu l'nord et plusieurs autres. Longue vie au Festival....
The Festival Mémoire et Racines is now known as one of the main folk
music events of the year in Québec. The Festival has earned this reputation
not only due to its great organization and exceptional site but also because
of the wide variety of artists and musicians who offer wonderful workshops and
high quality concerts. This CD is the second in a series of compilations from
the Festival, and the selections are from the 1997 and 1998 editions of Mémoire
et Racines. You can hear Normand Miron, André Marchand, Yvon Mimeault, Lisa
Ornstein, Susie Bourke David Surette, Pete and Karen Sutherland, Swamparella,
John Roberts, Lisa Preston, Arc en Son, Sarah Blair, Paul Groff, Perdu l'nord

Le volune 3, tiré des éditions 1999 et 2000, confirme le festival
comme l'un des plus importants au Québec. L'enregistrement est d'une
grande qualité et le choix des pièces et 
des
artistes illustrent bien la vitalité et le dynamisme qui règnent
durant cette fête de la musique. Les chauffeurs à pieds, Hart Rouge,
Michael Jerome Brown, Karen et Pete Sutherland, Carlos Placeres, Jean-François
Bélanger sont parmi les artistes qui donnent le ton à ce disque
qui nous ramène sur les lieux de ce concert envoutant qui habite la grande
scène du festival.
Volume 3, containing excerpts from the festival in 1999 and 2000, confirms the
festival as one of the most important folk music happenings in Québec. The
quality of the recording is excellent and the choice of cuts and artists
portray the vitality and excitement that abounds during this three-day
folk festival. Les chauffeurs à pieds, Hart Rouge,
Michael Jerome Brown, Karen and Pete Sutherland, Carlos Placeres, Jean-François
Bélanger are among the artists on the recording, bringing us back to those summers
in Joliette at the entrancing concerts on the festival main stage.

La dernière
compilation du Festival Mémoire et Racines souligne la diversité
des artistes et l'importance de ce festival auprès du grand public. Ainsi,
les Clayfoot Strutters avec Pete Sutherland et Jeremiah McLane, The Mammals
avec Ruth Ungar, Harry Manx, JP Cormier, Galitcha ou les Gitans de Sarajevo
partagent maintenant la scène avec Hommage aux Aînés, Simon
et Samuel Riopel, Michel Faubert, Édouard Richard ou les Tireux d'roches.
De ce disque, je retiens l'ambiance du festival mais aussi son ouverture sur
les musique du monde sans oublier ses racines. Plus qu'un grand rassemblement
annuel, le Festival met notre musique en contexte et attire un public varié
intéressé par la Fête mais aussi et surtout par la formule
conviviale du festival qui permet de cotoyer les artistes dans un cadre souvent
acoustique sur de petites scènes fort sympatiques. Longue vie au festival....
The latest compilation produced by the Festival Mémoire et Racines illustrates
the diversity of the artists it features and the extent to which the festival
has become a popular annual event. The Clayfoot Strutters (with Pete Sutherland
