Liette Remon est une jeune violoneuse de la ville de Québec,
native de Petit Pabos en Gaspésie. Elle a hérité de
sa famille non seulement d'un talent naturel pour la musique, mais aussi
d'un répertoire typique de cette région de l'est du Québec.
Avec sa soeur Lina, elle a réalisé un incroyable portrait
musical familial, une production entièrement consacrée aux
airs de violon exceptionnels de son père et des autres violoneux
et violoneuses de sa proche parenté. Les interprétations de
Liette sont vivantes et rafraîchissantes et elle est magnifiquement
accompagnée par François Morrissette au bouzouki et à
la guitare. Le tout a été enregistré par André
Marchand. 
On ne pouvait espérer plus beau cadeau d'une première

Liette Remon is a young Québec fiddler, originally from Petit Pabos on the Gaspé peninsula. She not only inherited a natural talent for music from her family but also a repertoire typical of this part of Eastern Québec. With her sister Lina, she produced this incredible musical portrait, a recording entirely devoted to the exceptional fiddle tunes that she learned from her father and other close relatives who play fiddle. Liette's exciting and lively fiddling is magnificently accompanied by François Morrissette on bouzouki and guitar. This CD was recorded by André Marchand. We could not have hoped for a more beautiful gift than the first recording from this multi-talented musician. Liette Remon
a fait un sacré bout de chemin depuis son premier enregistrement. On
la voit sur toutes les scènes avec des groupes qui chevauchent la musique
ancienne ou la musique traditionnelle québécoise. Sa présence
et ses prestations remarquées au prestigieux Festival of Americain Fiddle
Tunes en juillet dernier (2004) concordait avec le lancement de son nouveau
disque. «Comté de Gaspé Sud est une sélection d'airs
choisis en hommage à trois violoneux gaspésien: Léo Cyr,
Ramel Castilloux et Réginald Remon. ... Liette reproduit ici au violon
les mélodies et les accents propres à ces violoneux sur des arrangements
d'une facture toute moderne et personnelle. Elle interprète aussi quelques
chansons, certaines puisées dans les collectes gaspésiennes de
Marius Barbeau, une autre du répertoire familial et finalement, une inédite
de Madame Bolduc.» Jean-Philippe Reny (oud, guitare, bouzouki), René
Lussier (guitare, pieds), Pierre Tanguay (caisse claire, théière,
serpentin et guimbarde), Gabriele Bouthillier (voix), Normand Legault (gigue
et pieds), Benoit Fortier (cor français) viennent ajouter leurs couleurs
à un disque très réussi qui confirme le talent et la diversité
musicale de cette grande musicienne.

A versatile musician, Liette can be heard playing music ranging from early music to Québec folk music. Her invitation to the Festival of American Fiddle Tunes in July 2004 happened to coincide with the launching of her latest CD entitled “Comté de Gaspé Sud”. This recording presents a selection of tunes in honour of three fiddlers from the Gaspé peninsula: Léo Cyr, Ramel Castilloux and Réginald Remon. ... Liette reproduces the accents of their fiddle styles while adding a modern and personal touch to the arrangements. She also sings some songs some of which were taken from the Marius Barbeau collection from this area, from her family repertoire and lastly, an unpublished song from Madame Bolduc. Jean-Philippe Reny (oud, guitar, bouzouki), René Lussier (guitar, feet), Pierre Tanguay (snare drum, Jew’s harp etc.), Gabriele Bouthillier (vocals), Normand Legault (gigue and feet), Benoit Fortier (French horn) add their talents to this tremendous recording, confirming without a doubt the incredible talent and musical diversity of this wonderful musician.
