disque, le goût ne ment pas! Son amour de la chanson et de la musique
traditionnelle doit être contagieuse car on le retrouve cette fois-ci
avec Gino Lavoie (accordéon, harmonica, pieds, voix), Sylvain Desroches
(Fred) (guitare, voix), Michel Phillibert (guitare, mandoline, voix ) et Guy
Desrosiers (violon, voix). Si vous voyagez en 2008 dans la grande région
de Lanaudière et que vous vous retrouviez dans une fête musicale,
il est fort à parier que vous entendrez cette musique et peut-être
aussi ces musiciens et chanteurs. Leur répertoire de chansons très
actuel est puisé directement dans leur région et souvent même
dans leurs familles; leurs interprétations typiquement locales et les
arrangements musicaux efficaces vous amènent dans un atmosphère
caractéristique des fêtes populaires et surtout des veillées
toujours courues dans cette riche région du Québec. «Grav'ô
Portes» est une expression locale qui dit bien qu'il se passe ici une
musique qui déménage, des chanteurs et musiciens qui ne demandent
qu'à vous faire partager la fête!
Daniel Perron is like a great wine and each time he comes out with a new CD,
you can count on a vintage one! His love for songs and traditional music must
be contagious because this time he is joined by Gino Lavoie (accordion, harmonica,
feet, vocals), Sylvain Desroches (Fred) (guitar, vocals), Michel Phillibert
(guitar, mandolin, vocals ) and Guy Desrosiers (fiddle, vocals). If you happen
to come to the Lanaudière region in 2008 and you find yourself at a music
event, you will certainly hear this music and maybe even this group of singers
and musicians. Their repertoire of songs comes directly from their area and
often even from their own families. Their typically local interpretations and
tight musical arrangements gives an ambiance characteristic of music festivities
and especially music parties from this rich region of Québec. «Grav'ô
Portes» is a local expression meaning that in this area, musicians and
singers gather from all around just to share their music with you!

We had a feeling that Daniel Perron's family repertoire would again surprise
us with wonderful songs typical of his area. Backed up by a very impressive
group of musicians and singers from the Lanaudière region, Daniel presents
response songs typical of his corner of the world. Dimanche à la
veillée, C'était un laboureur, La complainte de M. Guimond, C'est
un cordonnier are just some of the titles of the remarkable songs that
are on this excellent recording. Wouldn't we all like to have such a rich family
heritage to share... bravo Daniel!

Le chanteur
de Lanaudière Daniel Perron a réuni une nouvelle famille pour
son «Héritage Familial». «La Belle Aventure»,
c’est aussi Guy Derosiers au violon, Michel Phillibert à la guitare,
Michel Carrier à l’accordéon, Normand Branchaud à
la basse et Guylaine Durand à la gigue. Le répertoire de Daniel
Perron semble inépuisable et tout dans sons style est caractéristique
des chanteurs typiques de la région de Lanaudière. Fortement attaché
aux traditions familiales, Daniel interprète des chansons de sa parenté
avec humour et sensibilité. On retrouve aussi deux chansons de son bon
ami Jean-Paul Guimond dont les «12 Parties de Grégoire»,
une perle aux arrangements soignés. Les musiciens interprètent
aussi des airs traditionnels, finement ciselés pour la danse. Chacun
ajoute aussi des couleurs avec d’autres instruments telle la mandoline,
le piano, l’harmonica. etc. La production est soignée, le livret
complet avec toutes les paroles des chansons et leurs origines, le son excellent
signé Davy Gallant au fameux studio du rang 4. Une belle aventure....
Daniel Perron, a popular traditional singer from the Lanaudière region,
has created a new musical family for the recording of Héritage Familial.
The musicians in his group on this latest recording entitled La Belle Aventure,
consist of Guy Derosiers (fiddle), Michel Phillibert (guitar), Michel Carrier
(accordion), Normand Branchaud (bass) and Guylaine Durand (stepdance). Daniel
Perron's repertoire seems inexhaustible and everything about his style is characterstic
of the traditional singers from the Lanaudière region. Strongly rooted
in his family tradition, Daniel interprets songs from his relatives with humour
and sensitivity. There are also two songs from his good friend Jean-Paul Guimond,
including the beautifully arranged version of 12 Parties de Grégoire.
The musicians also perform traditional tunes, finely carved out for dance. Each
musican adds individual colour with a variety of instruments such as the mandolin,
piano, harmonica, etc. The production is extremely well done, the booklet complete
with all of the song texts and their origins and the excellent sound recording
was done by Davy Gallant at the well-known studio at Rang 4. A beautiful adventure....
