Le chanteur Daniel Perron nous avait donné un très beau
disque l'an dernier (TB-137-CAS / TB-138-CD) et
il nous revient cette fois avec ses amis Rémi Laporte et Martin Lévesque,
La Souvenance traditionnelle. Tous originaires de la région
de Lanaudière, ce trio dynamique connaît un succès qui
n'a rien de surprenant. Déjà reconnu comme l'un des grands
chanteurs de Lanaudière, Daniel Perron apporte avec lui le style
caractéristique de cette région et un répertoire local
original, souvent hérité de son milieu familial. Martin Lévesque
qu'on avait connu avec le groupe Hommage aux Aînés,
harmonise le tout avec aplomb. Il nous surprend avec ses solos et ses qualités
rythmiques. Rémi Laporte (oui le frère de Pierre Laporte,
1er violoneux du groupe La Bottine Souriante) est aussi un violoneux virtuose,
l'un des rares à pouvoir toucher au répertoire de Carignan.
Il possède un sens inné qui lui permet de toujours bien agencer
et choisir les mélodies pour soutenir les airs des chansons de Daniel.

Morrison, Rémi est toujours à son aise et semble possèder
un archet magique. Le tout est supporté par le piano et la basse
de Réjean Brunet. On sent tout de suite une grande convivialité
musicale entre ces amis, un plaisir immense à jouer cette musique
qu'ils nous tranmettent instantanément. La sonorisation réalisée
par André Marchand est encore excellente et c'est nul autre que Gilles
Cantin, le fameux guitariste-chanteur des premiers disques de La Bottine
Souriante, qui signe le texte de présentation de la pochette. Ma

Singer Daniel Perron, who already produced a beautiful CD last year (TB-137-CAS / TB-138-CD), is back again with his
friends Rémi Laporte and Martin Lévesque, forming the group
called La Souvenance traditionnelle. All originally from the Lanaudière
region, this talented, dynamic trio has become very popular. Already known
as one of the great singers from Lanaudière, Daniel Perron brings
with him the characteristic style from this area and an original local repertoire
most of which he inherited from his family. Martin Lévesque, who
we already heard playing with the group Hommage aux Aînés,
provides beautiful guitar back-up. He surprises us with his solos and strong
rhythm. Rémi Laporte (yes, Pierre Laporte's brother, La Bottine Souriante's
1st fiddler) is a virtuoso fiddler, one of the rare fiddlers who can play
Carignan's repertoire. Having grown up with this music, he has an innate
sense which allows him to choose just the perfect melody to go with Daniel's
songs. From Bedeau de l'enfer to pot-pourri de James Morrison, Rémi
is always at ease and seems to have a magic bow. Réjean Brunet backs
up the whole thing on piano and bass. We immediately sense a stong musical
connection between friends, an immense pleasure playing this music. The
excellent sound was done by André Marchand and none other than Gilles
Cantin, the well-known singer-guitar player from the first Bottine records,
who signed the introduction on the CD jacket. Ma fantaisie invites
