Le festival des arts
traditionnels se déroule à Québec sous la gouverne du Centre
de valorisation du patrimoine vivant depuis plus de 15 ans. Antoine Gauthier
du groupe Les Chauffeurs à pieds a réuni et parcouru les enregistrements
disponibles réalisés pendant ces nombreuses années où
le Festival a présenté des artistes dédiés à
leur patrimoine musical local. Ce disque double propose un regard sur la période
de 1990 à 2001 et se veut un hommage à tous les artisans, artistes
et bénévoles qui ont contribué à la qualité
de cet événement. D'une grande diversité, ces extraits
nous rappelent des moments riches en émotion, des performances spectaculaires
et l'ambiance bien particulière de ce festival. De Martin Hayes au Mamou
Playboys, des Têtes de violon aux Chauffeurs à pieds, avec des
reels, des chansons à répondre et même un siffleur breton,
de quoi revivre ou découvrir le plaisir des performances en direct et
la spontanéité des artistes et du public qui y participent.
The Centre de valorisation du patrimoine vivant has been holding the Festival
of Traditional Arts in Québec City for over 15 years. Antoine Gauthier
(who plays with Les Chauffeurs à pieds) has gathered and gone through
available recordings from the past 15 years during which the Festival presented
artists dedicated to their local musical heritage. This double cd offers an
overview of the period from 1990 to 2001, and endeavors to pay homage to the
artisans, artists and volunteers who contribute to making it such a successful
event. The different extracts offer a lot of diversity, recalling moments of
real emotion, fantastic performances and an atmosphere that sets this festival
apart. From Martin Hayes to the Mamou Playboys, from the Têtes de violon
to Les Chauffeurs à pieds—with reels, response songs, and even
a Breton whistle, this collection offers a chance to relive or discover the
pleasure of the live performances and the spontaneity of the artists and the
audience.
