Wagonbar est
un disque de chansons traditionnelles québécoises. Ceci étant
dit, toute ressamblance avec ce que vous avez entendu dans le genre s'arrête
ici. Avec un traitement très rythmique et une approche instrumentale
complètement éclatée, nos chansons trationnelles ont soudainement
de nouveaux timbres et un nouveau visage. Les interprétations tout à
fait «dans la tradition» de Raymond Lavoie contrastent agréablement
avec l'approche instrumentale de nos trois larrons qui ne manquent ni d'idées,
ni de virtuosité. Si les Charbonniers de l'enfer avaient ouvert une nouvelle
porte à nos chansons, le Wagonbar ouvrent la maison au complet! «Avec
eux, ce n'est pas un canot qui vole dans le ciel de l'hiver, c'est un wâguinne!»

Wagonbar is a new group with a new recording of traditional Québec songs.
That being said, any resemblance to songs in this genre ends here. In a highly
rythmic style and a completely wide open instrumental approach, our traditional
songs suddenly have new sounds and new personalities. Raymond Lavoie's traditional
interpretations are pleasantly juxtaposed with an inventive instrumental approach
by these three virtuoso musicians. If you think the Charbonniers de l'enfer
had already opened the door to transforming our folk songs, the door is wide
open with Wagonbar! Great going guys!
